Anja Paerson has resumed her world beating form of last season,, winning the giant slalom at the traditional World Cup opener on the glacier above Soelden.

Anja Paerson has resumed her world beating form of last season,, winning the giant slalom at the traditional World Cup opener on the glacier above Soelden.

The 2003/04 World Cup overall champion took the gold medal from Tanja Poutiainen of Finland and Spain’s Maria Jose Rienda Contreras.

Paerson, who had never won in Soelden before, is also the reigning World Cup giant slalom and slalom titleholder.

The men’s event will be contested this evening AEST, but no Australians will be in the field.
