Astrid Loch-Wilkinson has driven to three podium results in three days in the second tier America’s Cup competition in Park City, Utah.
The 27-year-old Torino 2006 representative and Cecilia McIntosh collected silver in the opening events on the 2006 Salt Lake Olympic track, then followed that with bronze and another silver.
Just 27 one hundredths of a second kept them from the top step on the podium in the opening race.
In the men’s 2-man competition, Chris Spring and brakeman Duncan Pugh also proved their consistency, finishing in the top five for three consecutive races.
The Calgary-based pilot finished fifth, fourth and fifth, with the best result in term of time coming in the last outing.
The Australian pair was just 0.74 seconds behind Canadian gold medallists Serge Despres and Steeve Claveau and just 0.61 seconds behind Salt Lake 2002 silver medallist Todd Hays of the USA, who finished in second place.
Spring and Pugh were also just five hundredths of a second off the podium.
The best result of the other Australian 2-man sleds came from Torino Olympian Jeremy Rolleston and brakeman Duncan Harvey, who finished in seventh place in the final event, 1.32 seconds behind the winner.
Travis Sheehy and Shane McKenzie’s best was a 16th place in the opening race.
In the four-man competition, Rolleston and fellow pushers Stuart Trevallion, Anthony Ryan and Harvey produced the best result, placing 10th in a time of one minute 38.43 seconds, 1.77 seconds behind the winner.
