CYCLING: Australia’s road time-triallers, Michael Rogers and Shara Gillow will face ideal conditions today when their respective events get under way at Hampton Court Palace.
CYCLING: Australia’s road time-triallers, Michael Rogers and Shara Gillow will face ideal conditions today when their respective events get under way at Hampton Court Palace.
The women’s event, over 29km, is scheduled for a 12.30pm (9.30pmAEST) start and Gillow, 24, is the 11th-ranked competitor, which means she starts at 12:49.30pm local time. Riders leave at 90 second intervals, with defending Olympic champion Kristin Armstrong of the USA, scheduled to hit the road at 13:04.30.
In the Men’s event, over 44km, Rogers, 32, who is a triple world road time-trial champion, is ranked number 10, so is scheduled to hit the start line at 14:55.30 (11:55.30 AEST). Defending Olympic champion Fabian Cancellara of Switzerland will start at 15:.09.00 local time, 90 seconds behind Great Britain’s Bradley Wiggins, the Tour de France winner, and nominal favourite for the event.
