Australia's alpine skiers had a weekend to forget in Kitzbuhel, with Jono Brauer and Brad Wall both failing to finish the first run of the slalom and Craig Branch being disqualified in the downhill.

Branch did salvage something out of the classic World Cup meet, finishing in 39th place in the super G.

But that was not enough to get him the top 60 per cent of field result he needed to gain a start in the Torino super G.

Branch recorded a time of one minute 25.66 seconds, 2.69 seconds behind the time of race winner Hermann Maier of Austria.

Following the event, Ski and Snowboard nominated Brauer for the slalom and combined in Torino, Wall for the giant slalom, Branch for the downhill and combined and AJ Bear for the super G.
