SNOWBOARD: The women's snowboard halfpipe World Cup has wrapped up in Ruka, Finland overnight, with China's LI Shuang taking out the event with 85.75
With Olympic snowboard halfpipe champion Torah Bright and Olympic finalist Holly Crawford competing in the United States, the next generation of Australia’s snowboarding stars are chasing vital Olympic qualification points in Europe.
With Bright and Crawford all but confirmed their Sochi 2014 selection - and Australia expected to earn the maximum four female halfpipe spots in Russia - Hannah Trigger, Steph Magiros, Amber Arazny and Alex Fitch are all battling hard to qualify.
Trigger was the top placed Australian, finishing 12th in qualification with a score of 56.25, meaning she just snuck her way into the semi-final.
With just two of the eight semi-finalists making it through to the final, Trigger didn't progress but finished ninth overall in a promising result for the 26-year-old Victorian.
Sydney's Steph Magiros was the next placed Aussie on 14th with Amber Arazny 17th and youth Olympian Alex Fitch one more back in 18th.
