Australian alpine skiing duo Jono Brauer and Craig Branch were unable to get their first look at the Whistler Creekside downhill course with today’s first official training run cancelled half-way through due to bad weather.
Red hot favourite Didier Cuche battled the snow and fog to clock the fastest time of the day at 1:53.22. He was the first skier down the mountain.
Only 42 of the 87 athletes entered were able to get a run in with Branch and Brauer scheduled to be 52nd and 62nd respectively.
Branch, competing at his third Games, is looking to better his 45th in Salt Lake 2002 and 32nd in Torino 2006.
Whereas Brauer will be making his Olympic downhill debut in Vancouver, having competed in the slalom and combined events in Torino.
