Yauhleuskaya claims bronze in Munich World Cup

Lalita Yauhleuskaya has won a bronze medal overnight in the women’s 10m air pistol at the 2011 ISSF World Cup leg in Munich, Germany.

Lalita Yauhleuskaya has won a bronze medal overnight in the women’s 10m air pistol at the 2011 ISSF World Cup leg in Munich, Germany.

Yauhleuskaya produced a composed performance across her qualifying round of four strings to finish on 385 from a possible 400, before shooting 98.2 in the ten shot final.

Yauhleuskaya finished four points behind France’s Stephanie Tirode and three behind Serbian world champion Zorana Arunovic.

The result arrested a recent dip in form for world number five Yauhleuskaya, with her bronze medal coming on the same range that she won silver on at the 2010 ISSF World Championships.

Yauhleuskaya, who shot strings of 97, 97, 98 and 94 in her qualifying round, said her consistency was a big aspect of her overall result.

“My consistency has been a problem for the last few events and I have been letting myself down with a few silly errors,” Yauhleuskaya said. “Today was far better and although the gold medal was my aim this sets me up well for the remainder of the season and the World Cup Final.”

Fellow Australians Dina Aspandiyarova (VIC) and Hayley Chapman (SA) finished in 19th and 118th with scores of 383 and 362.

Both Yauhleuskaya and Aspandiyarova have already won quota places for Australia for the 2012 London Olympic Games.

Despite this not guaranteeing them Olympic Games nomination, they are currently ranked first and second in Australia in both the women’s 10m air pistol and women’s 25m sport pistol.
