Adele's Story

Adele Johnson (née Price) is a former Australian diver who represented Australia at the 1956 Melbourne Olympic Games. Born on 14 July 1935, she competed in the women’s 10-metre platform event and was among the pioneering generation of Australian female divers to compete at Olympic level.

At the 1956 Olympics, Johnson finished 18th in the women’s platform competition. Her participation came during a landmark Games for Australia, which hosted the Olympics for the first time.

Johnson's Olympic appearance secured her place among the early Australian athletes who helped establish the nation’s tradition in international diving competition.
