Dubbo-born Adrian Leijer rose up in the junior ranks before making his debut for the senior Australian team in March 2008. Leijer had spent two years playing for Melbourne Victory in the A-League, including a victorious 2007 season. Leijer then signed a three-year deal with Fulham FC in 2007. Leijer was a defender at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games where the Australians finished in 11th place.
