Alan's Story

Alan James Barblett was an Australian field hockey player, lawyer, judge and philanthropist who represented Australia at the 1956 Melbourne Olympic Games. Born in Perth on 17 November 1929, Barblett was a key member of the Australian men’s hockey team.

At the Melbourne Olympics, he competed in the men’s hockey tournament, helping Australia achieve a fifth-place finish.

Following his sporting career, Barblett became a distinguished legal figure and educational leader. He served as Chancellor of Curtin University and was widely recognised for his contributions to public service and philanthropy in Western Australia.
