Swimming Women's 4 x 100m Medley Relay
Sunshine Coast swimmer Alexandria Perkins made her debut in the green and gold at the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games, where she reached the finals of both the 50m and 100m butterfly and took home a gold medal for a heat swim in the mixed 4x100m medley.
She went on to win silver as part of the Australian team in the 4x100m freestyle relay at the 2024 World Championships in Doha.
At the Australian National Championships on the Gold Coast in April of the same year, Alexandria picked up bronze in both the 100m butterfly and the 50m butterfly.
She maintained her form going into the Australian Swimming Trials one month before the Paris Olympics, finishing second behind Emma McKeon in the 100m butterfly in a time of 57.42.
Once in Paris Alexandria reached the semi-finals of the women's 100m butterfly, but her time (57.84) wasn't fast enough to progress into the final.
She didn't come back to Australia empty handed. Her role as a heat swimmer in the women's 4x100m medley relay team earned her an Olympic silver medal.
Alexandria, who is completing a physiotherapy degree at the Australian Catholic University, Brisbane Campus, is the great niece of Carol Bernoth, who represented Australia in high jump at the Vancouver Commonwealth Games in 1954 and Melbourne’s Olympic Games in 1956.
