Ali's Story
Ali Abdo grew up in Melbourne and played AFL before an injury forced him out and led him to take up wrestling. At the age of 19, Abdo competed at his first Olympic Games as the only Australian competitor in the Greco-Roman wrestling at the Sydney Olympics in 2000 and he placed 19th. Abdo competed in freestyle wrestling in 2004 and 2008, placing 20th and 21st respectively. Abdo also competed at the 2001 East Asian Games in Osaka, placing fifth in the freestyle division.
