Originally from a gymnastics and swimming background, Amber Rose Stackpole decided to give Artistic Swimming a go and hasn’t looked back.

Born in New Zealand and growing up in Auckland, she represented New Zealand at many international competitions including Junior Worlds, Japan and US Opens and three Oceania Championships.

She was also the Junior Solo Champion in both 2010 and 2012.

In 2014, Stackpole left her family and moved to Australia as an 18-year-old and compete for her adopted country, a move which paid off when she made the team for Rio 2016, although her selection was not without some complications.

Stackpole gained her citizenship just three weeks before the Rio 2016 Olympic trials and just in time to qualify.

She was selected in both the team and duet events, where she paired up with Nikita Pablo.

Pablo and Stackpole scored 73.6360 points in the duet technical routine and 74.7667 in the free routine to place 24th overall.

In the team event, Stackpole helped Australia to eighth overall with 75.4333 in the free routine and 74.0667 in the technical.
