Andrew's Story

1977 -

Andrew Utting won a silver medal for Australia in baseball in 2004. From Victoria, the catcher was noted for his intelligent understanding of the game and defensive abilities. He played professionally in the United States and Japan. Athens was the third consecutive appearance at the Games for Australia’s baseballers, with the team having placed seventh in both Atlanta and Sydney. After reaching the semi-finals in Athens, it upset Japan 1-0, before losing the final to Cuba 6-2. Utting’s brother, Ben, also represented Australia in baseball.
