Andrew's Story
Born in Sydney in 1964, Andrew Wilson represented Australia in canoe slalom and was affiliated with Illawarra. He competed in the men’s canoe doubles event at two Olympic Games, Barcelona 1992 and Atlanta 1996, and was 28 at his Olympic debut. Canoe slalom was a demanding specialist discipline, and Wilson’s return for a second Games showed sustained quality in a boat class that depended on both individual skill and close partnership.
Wilson finished 16th in Barcelona alongside Matthew Pallister, then improved to 14th in Atlanta with John Felton. Those results gave him the distinction of being a dual Olympian in a technical event that has long demanded precision as much as speed. His two Olympic campaigns place him securely in Australia’s canoe slalom history.
