Annmaree's Story

Born in Melbourne in 1976, Annmaree Roberts emerged as one of Australia’s leading clay target shooters while competing out of Werribee Victorian Clay Target Club. She was still a teenager when she made her Olympic debut at Atlanta 1996, aged 19, and she returned at 23 for the Sydney 2000 Games, giving Australia a strong presence in women’s double trap during the event’s early Olympic years.

Roberts produced the best Olympic result of her career in Atlanta, where she finished seventh in the women’s double trap. Four years later, at a home Games in Sydney, she placed equal ninth after narrowly missing a place in the final. In a discipline where small margins decide the field, those performances marked her as a consistent international competitor and a two-time Olympian in one of shooting’s most exacting events.
