Ante's Story
Born in Sydney in 1974, Ante Moric represented Australia in football at the Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games. A defender associated with Sydney United 58, Moric was 22 when he joined the Australian men’s side for the Olympic tournament, part of an Olyroos squad competing against some of the strongest young teams in world football.
Australia finished 13th in Atlanta after a group campaign that included a 2-1 win over Saudi Arabia but losses to France and Spain. For Moric, selection in the Olympic squad placed him among the Australian footballers entrusted with carrying the national game onto one of sport’s biggest stages. His place in that 1996 team secures his part in Australia’s Olympic football history.
