Anthony's Story

Anthony Ryan had a difficult Olympic debut, when he competed in bobsleigh at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games. The high school teacher from Sydney only found out he had made the team days before needing to get on a plane to Canada when Australia received a reallocated quota place for a four-man bobsleigh team. Due to a number of injuries to Australia's bobsleigh athletes in Vancouver, the four-man crew never got to race, however Ryan still realised his Olympic dream, albeit in difficult circumstances, when he filled in for an injured Duncan Harvey in the third run of his two-man race. Ryan began bobsleigh in April 2009 after a career in first grade rugby union.
