Ben Burge took up shooting at the age of 14 at his local club in Albury, NSW. He competed at his first Nationals in the junior teams in 1996 and made his first senior team in 2000. Burge narrowly missed selection for the 2000 and 2004 Olympic Teams, but his ambitions were realised when he was selected to compete at the 2008 Games in Beijing. Burge also contested the 2002 and 2006 Commonwealth Games, winning bronze and silver in 2006.
