Brendan's Story
Born in Blacktown, New South Wales, in 1973, Brendan Todd emerged from Canberra Sailors Club to represent Australia in sailing at the Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games. Todd competed in the men’s Mistral windsurfer class and was 23 when he reached the Olympic stage in one of the fastest and most physically demanding disciplines in sailing.
Todd finished eighth in Atlanta, a result that placed him in the top 10 in the world at his only Olympic Games. His regatta included several strong individual races, among them a second placing and a third, which helped secure a highly competitive overall finish. In an event decided over a series rather than a single race, that consistency marked Todd as a sailor of real quality and gave him an Olympic result of lasting distinction.
