Brian's Story

Brian Reginald Blackburn was an Australian artistic gymnast who represented Australia at the 1956 Melbourne Olympic Games. Born in Sydney on 15 October 1928, Blackburn was a member of Australia's men's gymnastics team during the nation's home Olympics.

At Melbourne 1956, he competed in eight events, including the individual all-around, floor exercise, pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bars and horizontal bar. He also helped Australia finish seventh in the men's team competition.

Blackburn was part of the pioneering generation of Australian gymnasts who helped establish the sport's Olympic presence in Australia during the post-war era.
