Brian Booth

Brian Charles Booth MBE was an Australian hockey player and later a distinguished Australian Test cricket captain. Born near Bathurst, New South Wales, on 19 October 1933, Booth was a rare dual-sport international who excelled at the highest level in both hockey and cricket.

At the 1956 Melbourne Olympic Games, Booth represented Australia in hockey, helping the team achieve a fifth-place finish. He played two international matches during the Olympic tournament.

Although an Olympian in hockey, Booth became even more famous as an Australian cricketer. Between 1961 and 1966 he played 29 Test matches, scored 1,773 runs at an average above 42, and captained Australia in two Test matches. He was later awarded an MBE for his services to sport.
