Bronwen's Story

At 35 years of age, Bronwen Watson made her Olympic debut at the 2012 London Games. The Sydneysider had twice retired from the sport, in 2003 and 2009, but her determination and love for the sport forced a comeback. She competed alongside Hannah Every-Hall in the women’s lightweight double sculls where the duo qualified for the A Final where they finished fifth.
Watson had already achieved a remarkable feat when she was crowned World Champion in the lightweight double sculls for three consecutive years - 2007, 2008 and 2009. She also won bronze in the lightweight quad scull in 2003.
