Bryan's Story

Born in Melbourne in 1962, Bryan Wilson became one of Australia’s most durable international shooters, competing at four Olympic Games across a span of 20 years. Wilson was 21 when he made his Olympic debut at Los Angeles 1984, and he later returned for Seoul 1988, Atlanta 1996 and Athens 2004. He was affiliated with the Sporting Shooters Association and specialised in the running target event.

Wilson’s best Olympic result came at Los Angeles, where he finished 17th. He later placed 21st in Seoul, equal 18th in Atlanta and 19th in Athens, showing remarkable longevity in a highly specialised discipline. Beyond the Olympics, his career included a Commonwealth Games gold medal in Victoria in 1994, a result that underlined his standing among Australia’s leading shooters of his era. Four Olympic appearances alone place him in rare company in Australian shooting.
