Carly's Story
Born in 1973, Carly Dixon became one of Australia’s most durable judoka, representing her country at three Olympic Games across eight years. Dixon was 22 when she made her Olympic debut at Atlanta 1996, then returned at 26 for Sydney 2000 and 30 for Athens 2004, an achievement that reflected her standing in Australian judo through a sustained period at the top level.
Dixon competed in the women’s middleweight divisions across those three campaigns. Her best Olympic result came in Atlanta, where she finished 18th, while her appearances in Sydney and Athens ended in the opening rounds. Even so, to qualify for three consecutive Olympic Games in a combat sport of constant attrition was a notable achievement and placed Dixon among the more enduring figures in Australian women’s judo.
