Carole's Story
Carole Toy was one of Australia’s leading archers during the 1970s. Born in 1948, she was 28 when she made her Olympic debut at Montreal 1976. Competing in the women’s individual double round, Toy scored 2,305 points to finish 15th.
Between her Olympic appearances, Toy established herself among the world’s best. She helped Australia win the women’s team bronze medal at the 1977 World Championships in Canberra. At the 1979 World Championships in Berlin, she claimed individual bronze and was also a member of the Australian team that won silver. Toy returned to the Olympic arena at Moscow 1980, where she was one of three archers representing Australia. She scored 2,285 points in the women’s individual event, again placing 15th. Her two Olympic appearances and three World Championship medals secured her place among Australia’s finest archers of her era.
