Christine's Story
Born in 1961, Christine Bridge represented Australia in sailing at the Barcelona 1992 and Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games in the Europe class. Bridge was 30 at her first Olympics and 34 at her second, building an Olympic career in a single-handed class that demanded tactical judgement as much as boat speed.
Bridge finished 20th in Barcelona before improving to 11th in Atlanta, a result that brought her close to the top 10 in one of women’s sailing’s most competitive Olympic classes of the time. Her two-Games career gave her a respected place in Australian sailing, and the sport remained part of her family’s story, with daughter Carissa later also competing at national level.
