Christopher's Story

1879-1941

Chris McKivat, from NSW, captained Australia in the Olympic match due to the tour captain, HM (Paddy) Moran, being injured. McKivat was a brilliant half back who eventually converted to rugby league. He captained Australia in the professional code and, after retirement from playing, coached North Sydney to its only premierships in the NSW competition (1921-22). His greatness in both rugby codes has resulted in an entry in the Australian Dictionary of Biography.
