Clifford's Story

Clifford James “Cliff” Burvill was an Australian track cyclist who represented Australia at the 1956 Melbourne Olympic Games. Born in Coffs Harbour, New South Wales, on 26 March 1937, Burvill was a talented pursuit specialist during Australia’s strong post-war cycling era.

At Melbourne 1956, he competed in the men’s 4000-metre team pursuit, representing Australia on the Olympic velodrome at home Games.

After his cycling career, Burvill embraced other endurance sports, including marathon canoe racing, winning national-level medals in Australian marathon canoe championships. His lifelong commitment to sport continued well into his later years.
