David's Story
David Munro Gourlay was an Australian artistic gymnast who represented Australia at the 1956 Melbourne Olympic Games. Born in 1937, Gourlay was a member of Australia's pioneering men's gymnastics team at the nation's first home Olympics.
At Melbourne 1956, he competed in eight events, including the individual all-around, floor exercise, pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bars and horizontal bar. He helped Australia finish seventh in the men's team competition.
