David's Story

David Henry McKenzie was an Australian fencer, sports administrator and International Olympic Committee member who represented Australia at the 1956 Melbourne, 1960 Rome and 1964 Tokyo Olympic Games. Born in Sydney on 15 July 1936, he was one of Australia's leading foil fencers.

At the Melbourne Olympics, McKenzie competed in both the individual and team foil events. He later won a silver medal in the team foil competition at the 1962 British Empire and Commonwealth Games.

Beyond competition, McKenzie became one of Australia's most influential sports administrators, serving as President of the Australian Fencing Federation, Vice-President of the Australian Olympic Committee, and an IOC member from 1974 until his death in 1981.
