Gary Minihan, Darren Clark, Bruce Frayne and Rick Mitchell combined to set the national 4x400m record at the Los Angeles 1984 Games with a time of 2:59.70. The Australians finished fourth in the Olympic final- just missing a place on the podium- but a big improvement on Minihan's individual performance where he failed to escape the 400m heats.
