Gavin Thredgold was cox of the men’s eight crew which won a bronze medal in 1984. The other rowers in the eight were James Battersby, Ian Edmunds, Steve Evans, Clyde Hefer, Craig Muller, Sam Patten, Ion Popa and Tim Willoughby. Thredgold coxed a number of international crews for Australia during a fine competitive career. The bronze medal, one of three won by our crews in Los Angeles, was Australia’s first medal in the event since 1968.
