Geoffrey's Story
Born in 1973, Geoffrey Stewart built one of the stronger Olympic rowing careers of his generation, representing Australia at three Games across eight years. Stewart was 22 when he competed at Atlanta 1996, 26 when he returned for Sydney 2000 and 30 at Athens 2004, showing the durability and adaptability needed to remain at the top level in different boat classes.
Stewart’s Olympic story began with a sixth-place finish in the men’s eight at Atlanta. Four years later, he won bronze in the men’s coxless four at Sydney, then added a second bronze medal in the men’s eight at Athens. To stand on the podium at two Olympic Games, in two different crews, marked Stewart as one of Australia’s accomplished oarsmen of that period.
