Gordon's Story

1934 –

Gordon Pearce, one of five hockey brothers from Western Australia, was a member of the men’s hockey team at Mexico City 1968. The team, which also included his brothers, Eric and Julian, finished second to Pakistan, after defeating India in the semi-final. 

The silver medal in men’s hockey was equalled at Montreal 1976 and Barcelona 1992 before being bettered when the Kookaburras won the gold medal at Athens 2004. Gordon also played at Melbourne 1956, with Eric and another brother Mel (Melville), and at Rome 1960 with Eric and Julian.
