Grant's Story

Born in 1973, Grant McDonald represented Australia in baseball at two Olympic Games, competing at Atlanta 1996 and Sydney 2000. McDonald was 22 at his Olympic debut and 27 when he returned on home soil in Sydney, making him part of the generation that carried Australian baseball onto the Olympic stage during an important period in the sport’s growth.

Australia finished seventh in the men’s tournament at both Atlanta and Sydney. While McDonald did not have the chance to play deep into the medal rounds, his repeated selection reflected his standing within Australian baseball at the time. To represent Australia at two Olympic Games gave McDonald a lasting place in the nation’s baseball history.
