1971 -
Grant Smith won a bronze medal as a member of the Australian men’s hockey team in 1996. The team, coached by Frank Murray, went through the preliminary round undefeated, recording four wins and a draw from its five matches. In the semi-final they were defeated by Spain 2-1. The Kookaburras returned to their winning ways in the bronze medal final, beating Germany 3-2.
