Harvey's Story

Born in 1967, Harvey Goodman represented Australia in weightlifting at the Barcelona 1992 and Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games. Goodman was 25 at his Olympic debut and 29 when he returned for his second Games, competing in a sport where years of disciplined training are measured in a matter of seconds on the platform.

Goodman produced the best Olympic result of his career in Barcelona, where he finished eighth in the men’s 90-kilogram division. Four years later in Atlanta, lifting in the 91-kilogram class, he placed 16th. To qualify for two Olympic Games in weightlifting was a notable achievement in itself, and Goodman’s two-Games career gave him a firm place among Australia’s accomplished lifters of that era.
