About Hayley

Hayley Wilson started skateboarding at the age of 8, after her brother convinced her to buy her first skateboard. Hailing from Mansfield, Victoria she is also a gifted snowboarder and surfer.

At 15, Hayley qualified for her first X-Games - the youngest to do so in the women's street division history. In 2016 she won her first international competition in the USA at the ExposureAm Street contest.

An impressive 2019 saw Hayley win silver at both the Street League London and 2019 X-Games in Shanghai, and place 4th at the 2019 Dew Tour in the USA. Hayley's results throughout the 2019-20 season boosted her to a career-best ranking of no.6 in the world.

In 2020 she was awarded a Sport Australia Hall of Fame scholarship, which provided her with funding and valuable mentoring opportunities with Kevin Sheedy.

At the 2020 Oceania Continentals held in Melbourne, Hayley claimed the gold medal and secured her position on the Australian Team for the Tokyo Olympics.

Hayley created her own piece of Olympic history, becoming the first Australian woman to skateboard at the Olympics when she competed in the debut of the street competition.

She was unable to execute her first four tricks following the two timed-runs, suffering a couple of tough falls and failing to qualify for the final. But Hayley said at the time she saw a bright future for a sport that is attracting more and more female participants.

“When I started I was like, I don’t see any other girls,  so you think you’re the only one.

“I mean it’s pretty crazy and now here’s thousands of them out there. Ever since it got announced into the Olympics, I think women’s skating has just grown."
