Helen's Story
1976 -
Helen Denman won a silver medal as part of the women’s 4x100m medley relay team in 1996. As well as the relay, the West Australian also competed in the women’s 100m breaststroke, placing 11th. Denman swam the breaststroke leg in the qualifying heat of the relay to ensure Australia’s safe passage to the final. She was replaced by Samantha Riley in the relay team for the final. Denman went on to win two silver medals at the 1998 world swimming championships in Perth and two Commonwealth Games gold medals.
