Jackson's Story
Born in 1978, Jackson Fear represented Australia in archery at the Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games. Fear was 18 when he reached the Olympic stage, a remarkably young age for a sport that places such a premium on calmness, judgement and repeatable precision.
Fear placed 35th in the men’s individual event after ranking strongly before the elimination rounds, and he was also part of the Australian men’s team that finished fourth. The team advanced through the quarter-finals and came within a match of a medal before losing the bronze-medal contest. That fourth-place finish gave Fear the strongest Olympic result of this group and marked him as an important part of Australia’s archery effort in Atlanta.
