Jane's Story
Born in 1975, Jane Jamieson represented Australia in the heptathlon at two Olympic Games, competing at Atlanta 1996 and Sydney 2000. Jamieson was 21 at her Olympic debut and 25 when she returned on home soil in Sydney, building her career in one of athletics’ most demanding events, where success depends on skill across seven disciplines.
Jamieson finished 20th in Atlanta, then improved to 10th in Sydney with 6104 points. That rise across two Olympic campaigns reflected her growth as an all-round athlete and gave her a respected place in Australian athletics. To compete twice in the heptathlon at Olympic level was a notable achievement in an event that tests speed, strength, endurance and technique in equal measure.
