About Jay
Growing up on the Gold Coast, Jay Rich-Baghuelou has always dreamed of playing football for Australia.
He started his career as a striker with Gold Coast City. Still in his teens, Jay decided to move to England, where he initially signed with non-league team Dulwich Hamlet. Where he would be converted from a striker to a central defender.
Following his stint at Dulwich Hamlet, he was scouted by London Premier League side Crystal Palace, where he would go on to captain their U23 team and help them earn promotion to the Premier League 2. Earning a move to senior football with Accrington Stanely in the English League One in 2022.
Jay made his Australia U23 Team debut in a three-game tournament in Spain prior to the delayed Olympic tournament held in June 2021. The 1.96m tall centre-back started all three of those games. He followed this with his Olympic debut at Tokyo 2020, where he came off the bench against Egypt in Australia’s final game of the tournament.
