Jennifer's Story
Jennifer “Jenny” Donnet was born into a distinguished Australian diving family. Her mother, Barbara Donnet, competed at the Melbourne 1956 Olympic Games, while both parents became Olympic diving coaches.
Donnet made her own Olympic debut aged 17 at Moscow 1980, contesting the springboard and platform events. Donnet concentrated on the three-metre springboard during her next three Olympic campaigns. She finished ninth at Los Angeles 1984, 10th at Seoul 1988 and 15th at Barcelona 1992, becoming the first Australian diver to compete at four Olympic Games.
Her international career also included Commonwealth Games springboard gold medals in Brisbane in 1982 and Auckland in 1990, separated by silver in Edinburgh in 1986. Donnet captained the Australian Olympic team and carried the national flag at the Barcelona 1992 Opening Ceremony, completing a pioneering career spanning 12 years.
