John's Story
John Bolt emerged as one of Australia’s leading rowers during the late 1970s. He competed in the men’s pair at the 1978 World Championships before moving into the Australian men’s eight, which finished fourth at the 1979 World Championships in Yugoslavia.
Bolt made his Olympic debut as a 24-year-old at the Moscow 1980 Games. Reuniting with Robert Lang in the men’s pair, he progressed through the heat, repechage and semifinal before the Australians completed their campaign in 10th place overall.
