Joseph's Story
Joseph Christopher "Joe" Spiteri is a former Australian footballer who represented Australia at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games as a member of the Olyroos men's football team. Born in Melbourne, Victoria, on 6 May 1973, Spiteri established himself as a talented striker with a strong goalscoring record in both Australia and Europe.
After beginning his senior career in Australia, Spiteri played for clubs including Melbourne Knights before moving overseas to compete in Austria, Belgium and Sweden. His performances earned national team selection, and he made eight appearances for the Australian senior team, scoring two international goals. He was also part of Australia's squad at the 1996 Olympic Games, where the team competed in the men's football tournament.
Spiteri enjoyed a successful professional career that included winning the 1996 OFC Nations Cup with Australia and later helping Belgian club Lierse capture the Belgian Cup in 1998–99. Following his playing career, he remained involved in football development through coaching and youth training programs.
