Kate's Story
Kate Richardson (née Anderson) is an Australian long-distance runner who represented Australia at both the 1996 Atlanta Olympics and the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Born in Melbourne on 5 November 1973, she specialized in the 5,000 metres and became one of Australia's leading female distance runners during the 1990s.
At the Atlanta Olympic Games, Richardson competed in the women's 5,000 metres, gaining valuable experience on the world's biggest sporting stage. She later reached the final of the 1997 World Championships and won the gold medal in the 5,000 metres at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur.
A multiple Australian champion and former national record holder, Richardson's career was marked by consistency and resilience. Her Commonwealth Games success and Olympic appearances established her as one of Australia's premier female distance runners of her era.
