About Katrina

Katrina Werry first represented Australia at the U21 level in 2013, before being selected in the U23 Women’s Eight the following year, where she finished fourth at the World Championships.

In 2017, Werry was named alongside Lucy Stephan, Molly Goodman and Sarah Hawe in the Women’s Four, with the crew winning gold in the season’s World Cups 2 and 3 while collecting silver at the World Championships the following year.

Efforts during the 2017 season crowned the women the 2017 Australian Female Crew of the Year at Rowing Australia's Rower of the Year Awards.

A brief switch to the Eights preceded a return to the Fours competition for Werry, where in the 2019 season, the Victorian earned gold at  World Rowing Cup 3 and at the World Rowing Championships.

She made her Olympic debut at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games as a member of the Australian Women's Eight where the crew finished fifth overall to equal Australia's best ever result in this boat class.

The Australians advanced to the Final via the repechage after finishing third in their heat behind the USA and Romania. Their position in the Final secured after a fourth place finish in the repechage.

The crew looked to finish their Games regatta on a high and started fast in the Final setting a strong pace and rhythm to keep up with the Canadian boat who took an early lead. Placed second after the first 500-metres and only 0.66 seconds off the pace, the Australians fought hard to hold their position, but the opposition were too strong and after fading in the second half of the race, the Australians finished fifth overall.
