Kenrick's Story

Kenrick Monk made his Olympic debut at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. At the age of 19 the 6’4” sprinter with size 13 feet beat Grant Hackett at the 2007 Australian Short Course Championships, recording a 200m freestyle time only before beaten by Hackett and Ian Thorpe. In Beijing, Monk competed in the 200m freestyle, finishing fifth in his heat, 22nd overall. Monk won silver in the event at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi.

He returned to Olympic competition at the London 2012 Games having qualified in the 200m freestyle. At the London 2012 Games Monk finished seventh in his semi-final to miss the final of the 200m freestyle before the Australian Team finished fifth in the final of the 4 x 200m freestyle relay.
