Kevin McNab made his Olympic debut in 2021 at the postponed Tokyo Olympics and won a silver medal as part of the teams event alongside Andrew Hoy and Shane Rose.
Kevin and his horse Don Quidam were the reserve combination until one day before the competition and they were called into the team after Sydney 2000 gold medallist Stuart Tinney’s horse Leporis was deemed unfit to compete. Kevin and Don Quidam finished the individual competition in 14th position.
Kevin’s eventing career took off in his final year of high school, when he moved to Kooralbyn International School, southwest of Brisbane, to join their equestrian program and spent time working with Italian eventer Tony Manca.
He rode at state level, winning the Queensland Dressage Championships one year and placing in eventing.
Kevin made his international debut at the age of 16, participating in the young rider category in two European championships.
In order to pursue his eventing career, he decided to move to the UK where he currently lives with his family, sharing this passion with his wife Emma, who has also ridden for Australia.
From a base near the village of Compton in Surrey, Kevin and Emma run a business schooling young eventing horses.
At the 2024 Paris Games, Kevin was unfortunately forced to withdraw to due an injury to his horse Don Quidam.
Kevin was replaced by Shenae Lowings for the team event and alongside Shane Rose and Christopher Burton they finished 15th.
